A Christmas Tour!

Welcome to my home! This is our black Lab, Reese. She's actually being really good today. Normally when visitors come, she is c-r-a-z-y, but she's showing off her good modeling poses today. :)

This door is original to the house, as you can tell by the peeling paint. I love the letter box though! It's my goal next summer to refinish the door. We'll see if it gets done!

Oh, you like the star on the door? You can read how I made that recently here. (P.s. It was free to make!)

This is our foyer. A poinsettia is a simple way to decorate and really makes the room feel like Christmas!

 Come on into our kitchen!

As you can see...no snow. Yes, those are leaves. And no, we haven't raked them yet even though it's December. They're good compost for the grass right?

I placed our small Nativity scene on the windowsill so that every time I'm doing the dishes, making coffee (much needed with a baby), preparing dinner, or grabbing a drink of water, I can focus in and be reminded again who we are celebrating at Christmas.

On one wall in our kitchen, I painted a kitchen cupboard door with chalkboard spray paint and now it's our official Christmas countdown!

I'll give you a view of our foyer from the kitchen:

I hung up some leftover branches from our tree on our closet and basement doors.

Alright, let's go into our dining room for some tea!

This was a simple centerpiece to do. Extra branches from our Christmas tree went into my enamel jar from a thrift store. Candles in Epsom salt are in the glass votive jars. I scattered small branches and pine cones around the candles.

(Oh! And those cookies are made from spice cake mix. Super easy! And yummy!)

I wanted to show you my brand-new finished table! It fits perfectly in our dining room. I love it! You can see the story behind the table here.

Want to move over to the living room?

I have the fireplace on, since it's always a little chilly in here (our old house is a little drafty).

I love our mantle this Christmas. I printed off a beautiful print that displays the names of Jesus. (You can see more about my mantle here) I added some branches and pine cones after we got our Christmas tree.

You may have noticed my love of books. These aren't all of them!

I framed a print off of Pinterest (found here) and put it into a frame that I got from Value Village. The little angel was from my great grandma when I was a little girl. It is a musical angel! When I wind the bottom, it plays Silent Night.

I kept my coffee table simple with a bowl full of ornaments and a plastic mercury tree from Value Village.

Before you go, I want to show you the main attraction at Christmas! The tree!

It's a small one this year. The farm where we cut down our trees, didn't have many tall ones this year. At least we didn't have to reach very far to put up our star!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I know I haven't shown you upstairs where our bedrooms are. That's for another day, another tour. :)

Come back on Wednesday and I'll show you more in detail my Christmas tree skirt.

Ever drive by someone's home and wish that you could see inside? Well now you have your chance! After you leave here, be sure that you explore the Inspired Room's Christmas Home Tour for many more beautiful decorated homes!

I'm also linking up with the Nester on December 14th!

Come see how others have dressed their homes for Christmas!

  6. Thanks for the tour of your Christmas-fied home :)
By-the-by, my husband and I were watching This Old House last night and Roger said that we shouldn't be raking leaves from under our trees. . .it's good compost for the root system. . .keeps the trees healthy so cut yourself a break!
I would love to come over and have tea and spiced cookies with you :)

Thank you! Are your dogs just as excitable as Reese (our dog. Not to be confused with your son!) when visitors come to the door?
    Thanks for stopping by!

Haha! Definitely not! Believe me. Right now my dishes are piled on my kitchen counter and there are little piles of things everywhere that need to be put away. When you have a busy life with dogs, children, and husbands, your house can't always be sparkling! (Unless you're a super hero)

  10. @Teresa

Thank you Teresa! I'm glad that it's the little things that make the room. I don't have to do something extravagant to make something look pretty!

When I saw that art print, I knew that it was to be the focus of my mantle this year! It's a good reminder to keep in mind WHO this is all for.
Thanks for stopping by all the way from Ireland! Merry Christmas to you as well!
