Here is my inspiration for the holiday dresses:
As you can see, it looks nothing like those dresses but it's always nice to have inspiration, right? I love how the dress came out. For the skirt, I used pre-ruffled fabric. BEST INVENTION EVER. Instead of spending hours and hours perfecting my ruffles, I just cut it out and sewed it together. It's awesome.
For the top, I used satin with a cotton lining. For the back, I installed an invisible zipper which sounds very hard, but is actually easy peasy. There are tons of tutorials out there so I won't bore you with my very unprofessional way of doing it. I have different satin ribbon to tie around the waist but I didn't want to limit myself to only using Christmas colours, so I have a cream, red and yellow to add later.
Without further ado, here is my little monkey modelling her dress:
(Wearing her cute little headband I made for her)
(This is where she decided she was done)
Have you done any shopping for the little ones in your life? Have you ever tried to sew dresses before?
9 Days till Christmas!!
Bella looks so adorable! Melody, you did great on those dresses! They look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSoooo cute! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others, great job. I would love a tutorial. As a mother who would love to sew if only I owned a sewing machine, I'd love to know how you accomplished this beautiful dress.

@Mommy Papi and Babies SauriThanks so much! I'll have to work on a tutorial in the New Year. If you're really interested in sewing, you don't need the most expensive sewing machine on the market - mine is a Kenmore from Sears that I received as a Christmas present a few years ago.
