{Day 3} Personalized Mugs

Christmas is a great time to shower the people that you love with a little extra something. Maybe it's not an expensive present, but it could be a yummy dinner, or even dropping by with an eggnog latte from Starbucks. Mmm...

I don't do a lot of shopping for presents at Christmas, even with a large family. We draw names, which helps a lot! However, I occasionally like to buy a small gift for friends or volunteers at church.

This is a great, easy and fun gift to show someone that you are thinking about them.
Start with a plain white mug. (No picture, but I'm sure you can use your imagination.) I got mine from the dollar store and I love the shape of them. Perfect for a snowy evening, watching a Christmas movie, and drinking hot chocolate.

Turn on your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Grab a sharpie marker. It can be black or you can go crazy and grab a bunch of colourful sharpies!

Decide on a design that you want to draw on your mug. Don't worry if you aren't an artist. I definitely am not one. Browse designs online or just start doodling! If you make a mistake, you can wipe it off quickly and start over.

Then have fun drawing!
This is a great craft to get your children involved too, if they are at the age of being allowed to use permanent markers. These mugs could be given as gifts to teachers, friends, and grandparents.

Once you have your mug the way you want it to look,
put it in the preheated oven for 35 minutes for the marker to set.

Once they are done and cooled, you can fill them up with apple cider mix, tea, baggies of hot chocolate and marshmallows, gourmet coffee or whatever else you decide to go in them!
A simple gift that doesn't cost a lot of money.

This is the third day of a three-week series that we're doing to help you get ready for Christmas...before December!

  4. Find decal paper for inkjet or laser printers at many office and craft supply retailers. Print any images you desire onto the adhesive paper, such as photographs, illustrations or scans of drawings.
