June Garden

June is one of my favourite months of the year. The weather is nice but not blazing hot, the flowers have bloomed and my garden is growing (usually!).

Last year I didn't plant any vegetables or fruits because I was 7, 8, and 9 months pregnant and I really couldn't bend down at all! This year, I still don't have a garden simply because of time and Seth being away so much, but I decided to do container gardening. At the end of May, (that's when our growing season starts here in Ontario) I gathered some pots, dirt and seeds and got to work.

I planted beans, zucchini, peppers, strawberries, and some herbs. It's been an adventure trying to figure out what grows best in containers and what I should just give up on. But so far, so good:

My beans that I grew from seed. They germinated in record time!
Lots and lots of peppermint. Great for drying and using in teas later on.
And here are a few close ups of my flowers. I've cropped out all the weeds since I haven't been out there in a few days to get that done. Don't you wish it was that easy in real life?! :)

Snapdragons are Seth's favourite flower. I think it has to do with the "dragon" part

Nasturtiums are the easiest flowers to grow from seed!

That's what I've been up to for the last little while. I've decided that container gardening has to be the easiest ever. All you have to do is remember to water once a day. You don't even have to pull weeds!

  1. I wish I could do that! Maybe I will container plant in my planter! My dogs are really good about trampling over anything I plant... except the weeds. Why is that?!?!

    1. Haha.. I think it must be for the same reason that my daughter picks all my flowers but not the weeds when we're "weeding".
