Ok, stupid jokes aside, I'm excited for this post today because it has been a long time coming. Two and a half years in fact. When we first bought the house, one of the things on my "con list" was the bathroom, and the kitchen, and the small master bedroom. But today we are just dealing with the bathroom. What was wrong with it, you might ask, and my answer is everything. Let me show you a picture so that you know that I'm not just exaggerating:
I took the picture after I started working which is why it is majorly dirty! |
So now that you've seen enough pictures of my previous bathroom to know that I'm not a complete drama queen, (what's up with the purple mirror and wood toilet seat?!) I'll show you the work I've done over the last couple of days/nights.
I sprayed both the mirror and all the trim with both primer and white trim paint. If you don't want trim paint, high-gloss paint is basically the same thing. The paint colour is a sea foam green with a little more blue in it that I had mixed up for me at Lowes.
I still have a few things on my list:
- replace the toilet seat with a regular white one
- new ceiling light fixture since the previous owners actually took ours
- new countertop
- new tile floor to replace the linoleum
- new hardware for the vanity
- use gel stain on the vanity to turn it espresso
The total cost of the project so far is $32 for the paint (I already had the white trim paint on hand). It's amazing to see what a little bit of paint can do!
So what do you think? Do you have any projects in your home that you're working on? We'd love to hear about them!

I absolutely LOVE that sea foam colour! We're really missing being able to paint and decorate our rented house. I'm all inspired for when we do buy again though!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurie! I love the colour too. It makes me smile every time I look at it. Have you ever thought of painting some of your furniture bright colours?
ReplyDeleteGreat color! Much brighter and happier :) Stopping by from the LLR blog hop and following now too.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
